Too many mistakes and missed chances cost Colts.
Chirnside Colts travelled to Coldstream for their 4th league game of the season with a lot players unavailable for selection due to injury and work commitments. And their got off to a terrible start in the match. Within minutes Colts gave the ball away cheaply and the Coldstream striker got through one on one. Luggett in goal parried the shot but it bounced straight into Romaines’ leg as he tried to cover the second strikers advance, sending the ball looping over the line.
Colts seemed to be at 6’s and 7’s as they were all over the place for the first 15minutes of the game and inevitably Coldstream made it 2 – 0 when Crombie sold Romaines short of a pass, for the Coldstream striker to chip Lugget who’s finger tip save wasn’t quite enough to prevent the ball creep over the line.
Eventually Chirnside gave themselves a shake and entered the game. Lough whipped in a cross for Jordan Wood heading inches over and minutes later the same combination seen the ball bounce over off the crossbar. But Coldtream finished the half stronger miss an opportunity to make it 3.
The second half started well for the Colts as they knocked the ball around a lot crisper than in the first half and then Sean Lackenby managed to find Jordan Wood in space, scuffing his shot, but it was enough for the ball to find its way into the bottom corner. This would surely make it game on? But Colts once again asleep from kick off following a goal score let the Coldstream midfield walk through several challenges and a rebound was easily tucked into the net.
A mix up between Lough and Ethan Pollock let the Coldstream make the score 4-1 a few minutes later and the game seemed to slipped away from the Colts. Riddell entered the pitch on for the injured Ryan Wood and immediately made an impact up top as he drew the centre half out of position, a long angled ball from Michael Pattenden into the space created by Riddell was met by Michaels brother Daniel lashing the ball into the net.
This time the Colts seemed to really be spurred on by this as Daniel Pattenden rattled the post with a great solo effort. From a corner Kieran Turner somehow managed to head over from 2 yards out and Colts were beginning to feel like it wasn’t their day. Coldstream finished the scoring off heading in from a corner to rub salt into the wounds of the Colts.
